Updated: Added a 'comments' link. See lah J Schnorng. Cos of you, so many ppl ask me why haven i got a comments section. I like emailing mah. it's more personal =).

Joined a few of my friends in a conference chat, and the topic revolved around some girl they know ( I shall name her Miss XXX [ no pun intended ] ) who loves to show her body in public places, or what we like to call, an exhibitionist. While i found it amusing, they simply thought that to be an anti-feminist movement, and her to be a disgrace to women.

Feminism. I personally think its silly but people are entitled to their opinions. True, women are mistreated even today, but the way the feminist movement is going is amusing. You hear words like "salesPERSON" being insisted upon in order to be neutral while language itself is accused of being sexist. Gender inequality? How equal can the sexes be? Nature dictates that we are born with different abilities. True feminism is not supposed to be sexist, as it is now. It should not accuse the way it accuses now. It should interestingly also not stop women like "Miss XXX" from doing what they do. Accusing those actions is not feminist; it is sexist. Ironically, the feminist arguing for equality of the sexes would applaud "Miss XXX". Why should she be prevented from flaunting her sexuality? That is another interesting facet of feminism that people subjectively choose to ignore.

We talk about acceptance. Accepting people for who they are - for people are different; thus the different opinions, food tastes, bra sizes etc etc. But on some unconscious level, we judge. Probably a little too much than we would like to admit. We judge people by their looks, by the things they do, and the things they don't do. How is it that the word acceptance is so commonly and recklessly used, but yet the practice of it is almost always difficult? They say with understanding, comes acceptance. Take Miss XXX. We don't know her, therefore we don't understand her. So to most of us, she's a loose woman. She's bo liao. or maybe a nutcase. So as we judge, a part of us tries to understand why she's doing what she's doing. But to me, understanding people and their weirds traits and little eccentricities is even harder than accepting them. Perhaps a faster and more convenient solution would be not to accept each and every one seperately, but to acknowledge in general that people are different.

Okay enough rambling. I need to sleep.

P.S: J Schnorng aka Big F**k has featured me and a bunch of girls in his blog. We've been dubbed the "xiaxue killers". Its hilarious. He makes me sound like a bimbo though. grrrrrrr.

Note to J Schnorng : I'm a np grad. not NTU undergrad. =) but wait. that doesn't make me any less smarter k.

Something to say? =)
